What is Litify?

Founded in late 2016, Litify is a legal operating system built entirely on Salesforce. It helps law firms, corporate legal departments and government agencies run smarter.

Docrio is the document management and generation app of Litify. Our goal was to be the first document management system (DMS) to embrace Salesforce’s Lightning Design System (SLDS). Most of our competitors integrated with Salesforce as an afterthought, and we flipped that paradigm.

A good document management allows users to store, preview, and access their files in a reliable way. Docrio was subject to a lot of iteration, testing and improvements.

Lightweight Personas

Lightweight Personas

When the document management side was ready, we pivoted to the document generation side. Users of the latter had different needs and we worked hard to understand them.

We determined there would be two types of people interacting with document generation: an admin user and a frontend user. The admin user (Jenna) would create templates for the frontend user (Chad). Personas don’t solve everything but they offer a li

Concepting

Concepting

It took time to nail down how a user would navigate through the system. Sketching this out and huddling with engineers/product managers helped make this idea concrete.

User Flow

The low-res brainstorming led to a better understanding of how document generation should work.

Design Studio

Design Studio

I held multiple design studios, incorporating engineers, product managers, subject matter experts, etc. to gather a variety of ideas for the document generation interface.

We landed on an interface that allowed admin users to create templates that our front end users could use to merge complex documents. Features like conditional logic and bulk merge were eventually added as well.
